The governdent gains are about 10% of total gains. And the federal gains were mostly Homeland Security, Veterans Affairs, Post Office, and Defense. Might be bloat, might not.
Post Office is not a government agency …and I think you forgot the IRS. And I thought that the DOD is not meeting its recruitment goals? Nevertheless, it’s still bloat.
I am not very DOD savvy but I believe there is recruitment and there is hiring.
The US Post Office is a federal agency. Is that not US government?
The numbers need more detail before they can be cast as bloat.

Even if it’s personnel is counted as “government” what suggests that the employment numbers are growing?
