Praying Mantis

Many voters ... disillusioned with politicians and how they seem to shed their morality as they progress through their years in office ... believe that this problem can only be solved by limiting the number of terms candidates can be in office.

Politicians being politicians, I doubt that term limits would work ... since no law is ever written by lawyers in such a way that it can’t be subverted by another higher-priced lawyer.

So is there a solution to this moral conundrum?

May I suggest the following law be enacted ... derived from how the female praying mantis rewards her much smaller male paramour? After mating this large female insect bits off the head of her male partner as he is smoking his post-coital cigarette. 

So this “Mantis” law will require any politician ... Republican, Democrat, Independent, Socialist or Greenie ... who has screwed his/her constituent voters ...  to be immediately decapitated ... in the public square ... from which there is no appeal.

Maybe this is too lenient?

Was the US’s killing of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard General Soleimani in Iraq justified? The Smerconish program on CNN this morning asked this question of its viewers. Surprisingly, 72% of respondents said it was NOT justified. This suggests that Liberals in general do not approve of this Trump decision ... not a surprise. But, was this a never-Trump knee-jerk or, perhaps, an indication of fear of Iranian retaliation?

Probably a bit of both. And yes, Iran might respond in kind. But the repercussions of Trump’s boldness will likely be felt in other spheres: North Korea, China, Syria, Venezuela ... maybe even Russia. And remember that Iran went quiescent for a number of years after President Reagan destroyed half its navy in 1988 after it had mined the Persian Gulf ... see: Operation Praying Mantis.

Maybe Reagan’s boldness was a template for Trump’s decision?

Father's Day

Very Ancient Greece was a matriarchal society ... primarily because women were thought alone to be the progenitors of  society. This was due to an ignorance regarding the male role in reproduction. Sex was viewed as a simple pleasure without the connection to procreation. In fact, queens then would take lovers for a year and then, much like the praying mantis, decapitate them and move on to their next studley.

Obviously this society had no notion of Father's Day.  And now we have almost come full circle with sperm donors, egg donors, test-tube babies, three-parent babies, etc. And, it is predicted, that someday  soon the male role in reproduction will become totally obsolete. Medical science will then be able to cause the female egg to form a new human without the introduction of the male wriggler.

Then Father's Day will again disappear ... as eventually males themselves might vanish. We will have finally arrived at the Age of Aquarius ... only females ... when wars will vanish, the Earth will be healed and the only crime will be wearing a pants suit.
