Today’s Poser

Who did a better job of interfering with U.S. elections ... Russia with its FaceBook ads ... or China with its Wuhan virus?

Today’s Poser

Blue-state governors want federal Wuhan-virus bailout money ... using the excuse that they need to pay their police, firefighters, medical personnel, etc. I could be wrong but haven’t  these front-line responders been paid all along ... and not owed anything ... and under no threat that they won’t continue to be paid in the future ... independent of any bailout largess ... which clearly would be destined to grease bloated pol’s pensions, waste and fraud? Such is Dem. demagoguery.

Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda

It surely was predictable. Much of the media has gone down its favorite rabbit hole ... finding a way to castigate Trump ... this time for the COVID-10 devastation. He coulda done more in January to stop the Wuhan virus ... so that it woulda not turned into a pandemic.  He shoulda declared a national emergency and shut down the country. Spittle-flecked Joe Scarborough says everyone knew what a huge problem this was in January ... see: Diagones’ Middle Finger entry.

This blog likes to juxtapose images. But this time I am asking you, dear reader, to juxtapose time frames. Imagine for a moment one of Trump’s nightly coronavirus task force pressers ... with VP Pence and Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx and the generals and FEMA et alia ... but imagine instead this is all happening in January of this year ... when Trump still might have nipped this pandemic in the bud. Got the image? See Trump directing the task force to ask people to social distance? To not travel to or from impending hot spots? To self quarantine?

Now switch to Chris Cuomo on CNN or Morning Joe on MSNBC or George Stephanopoulos on Sunday morning ABC. Can you see them pointing angry fingers at Trump for trying to  distract America from his impeachment trial?  The snarling rhetoric would be vicious. Adam Schiff would be beside himself eviscerating Trump for compounding his heinous guilt ... lying about the threat coming out of China.

Most of our national media woulda been dripping with hypocrisy just like they are now in their trying to rewrite history.

Today’s Poser

Did our Davos masters, when they were designing the borderless New World Oder, have a bullet point on their PowerPoint slide show predicting the current Wuhan virus pandemic?

Obvious Truth

“Accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative ...” — Johnny Mercer

Read the establishment media (you know the ones). Watch CNN, NBC, MSCDC, CBS, ad the rest of these liberal outlets. Follow the Trump haters on the Internet. It becomes clearer and clearer that, in the midst of this Wuhan pandemic, the nitpicking liberal media are not part of the solution to this crisis ... they are a major part of the problem.

The Basics

Although I was quite young, I think living today is becoming a lot like it was during World War II. And, by that, I mean that life then was just getting through the day without screwing anything up badly ... keeping body and soul together..

During those tough times we struggled to keep our houses warm in the winter without too much concern about all that coal smoke we produced. In the summer, air conditioning was accomplished with lots of ice and a fan. Movies were simpler yet more wistful. Racial tensions and gender politics were not top of mind. Life was just the basics ... food, clothing, shelter, religion.

Oh yes, we now have the internet to replace the morning paper ... and can watch Joe Scarborough froth at the mouth while we sip our coffee. But lots of diversions have now disappeared out of our lives ... at least for a while. No sports ... no going to the movies ... or out to dinner ... more complications in grocery shopping.

I have a feeling that, once this Wuhan virus thing has gone away, our lives will be completely different. We will be far less dependent on China for our manufacturing. Much more of our lives will be on-line. We will have a closer relation with Canada, Mexico, Great Britain ... maybe even Russia. We will have much more effective virus treatments. Unfortunately, many businesses will have disappeared. A lot of people will have new jobs. Carbon dioxide won’t be quite the bugaboo it recently was ... even if our climate actually changes a bit.

We, as a nation, might even start getting behind our president.

Conspiracy?

If one were to indulge in conspiracy theories surrounding the current coronavirus pandemic, one would have to wander into the mind of Xi Jinping. There one might find his realization that President Trump is playing for keeps .... and has managed in just a few short years to slow the juggernaught that was his China. And this needs to be reversed before China’s quest for world domination is sidetracked.

Now the Chinese are used to thinking in terms of big ideas and centuries, not years ... and so the Wuhan virus might fit such long-term thinking very neatly.

For what asset does China have that neither the U.s. nor Russia can duplicate? People. And, other than a thermonuclear war, how could China best utilize this resource to deplete its adversaries of their human resources ... even at the cost of big chunks out of its own population?

You got it pilgrim ...

Xi’s Legacy

From the above chart one can quickly visualize the state of the world’s anxiety and resentment against China and its virus. But, whatever the level now, angst is bound to grow along with the spread of the coronavirus. I have no idea how long the world’s resentment will linger ... we still don’t hold the 1918 Spanish flu agains Spain ... but China’s image has clearly been tarnished by this virus’s pandemic. And it obviously will be much worse if the term “Wuhan virus” becomes commonplace.

My personal opinion is that China may never return to the economic growth path that it was on before this COVID-19 virus erupted there ... and add to this President Trump’s fortunate recognition of the absolute threat that the unbalanced trade relationship we had had with China. And don’t be surprised if Xi is gone before the leaves fly.

Afterthought: It is interesting that Trump has placed restrictions on travel from the EU on the blue curve  at about the same spot on the yellow curve as he restricted travel from China.
