Rewarding Bad Behavior

It seems like such a simple concept -- if one rewards bad behavior, one gets more of it. Yet our government, under both Democrat and Republican administrations, has continually violated this premise in both domestic and foreign policy. It did not take me hours to come up with the following examples of this lunacy:

- North Korea has, since the mid 1990's been offered all sorts of foreign aid and forgiveness in order to dissuade it from becoming a nuclear and ballistic missile threat to Japan, South Korea and, yes, even the United States. This foreign policy clearly has had just the opposite effect.

- In many American cities and universities, but particularly recently in Baltimore and Berkeley, civil disobedience, rioting, looting, and assault on innocent people has been forgiven as being "maybe" justified ... and the arrested perpetrators released without punishment. Today, even the slightest imagined affront is an excuse to knock over liquor stores, pharmacies and other targets of opportunity.

-There is a rapidly growing threat to the solvency of our Social Security System due to the rapidly growing disability (SSI) population. Now such silliness as AD/HD, fatty liver, anxiety, and even obesity are rewarded. There are agencies and doctors who specialize in qualifying often able-bodied people to hop onto this gravy train. This will eventually topple the Social Security System itself.

- Disaffected Muslims have been encouraged toward radicalization by the silly notion that any serious push-back against these caliphate worshippers would do nothing but encourage them. The notion that Gitmo or enhanced interrogation are recruiting tools for radicalizing Muslims is a perfect example of this pretzel logic. It is obviously the Western World's weak-kneed efforts to eradicate terrorism that has encouraged more terrorism ... not the opposite.

- Iran has baited and buffaloed he United States and Israel ever since the American embassy takeover during President Carter's term. However, relatively stiff sanctions against it had slowed down its obsession to sponsor terrorism, acquire nuclear weapons and develop/test ICBMs. However, under the Obama/Jarrett regime, relaxing these sanctions and enormous financial rewards has reawakened this feral animal.

The list goes on and on: paying welfare mothers to have more children, offering loans to students resulting in higher and higher college tuitions, giving drivers licenses to illegal aliens which opens the doors to their voting, supporting warmists with doctored data allowing them to reward bad science, paying incompetent teachers to not teach ... unfortunately I could go on and on.

How do we squash this nonsense? Stop electing politicians who so behave ... as they want to appease their voters to get reelected ... another example of bad behavior being rewarded. But, in time, their replacements will likely do more of the same. Too many professional politicians are bad apples. It clearly is a genetic defect in the body politic and politicians. And we many voters can't seem to grasp this concept.

Gutter Balls

Early in his first administration President Obummer had a photo-op at a bowling alley and proceeded to roll a series of gutter balls. This turned out to be a metaphor for his next eight years wherein he flubbed the dub so many more times than he succeeded. Not even counting his many departmental  scandals, here is a listing of some of  his administration's many gutter balls

- The "good war" in Afghanistan (green-on-blue American killings)
- Obamacare
- Tax reform (none)
- Too long treating ISIS as the JV team
- Globalism push
- Cash for clunkers
- General Motors extra-legal bailout
- Unconditional opening to Cuba
- Healthy school lunch program
- A premature bug-out from Iraq (no status-of-forces)
- His apology tour of foreign countries
- The Syrian "red line"
- Muslim Brotherhood endorsements
- Encouraged illegal voting
- Cold shoulder for Israel
- Solyndra and many other "green" money pits
- "A nation of bitter clingers"
- The Russian reset (and the result in the Crimea)
- A trillion dollar stimulus of shovel-ready jobs (not so)
- Regulation reform (just the opposite ... Many more)

- Obsessed with closing Gitmo
- Huge increase in food stamp, SSI, etc, recipients
- A rogue Secretary of State (e-mail server, pay to play, etc.)
- Open borders (amnesty for "dreamers")
- Fluid gender bathrooms
- Benghazi
- Race relations (Black Lives Matter, etc.)
- Banking reform (Dodd-Frank straight jacket)
- The Arab Spring and its repercussions thoughout the Middle East
- Slow economic growth
- Legions of "Czars"
- War on coal
- A myriad of extra-legal executive orders
- Fast and Furious
- The Bowe Bergdahl prisoner exchange
- The Iran nuclear deal
- Government spending control (deficit reduction)
- Real employment and income growth

But to be absolutely fair, Obummer did lead the Seal Team that took out Osama Bin Laden. (I hear that Hellary was flying one of the helicopters.)

Hell Year -- Month 8

In another bonehead move, Obummer is continuing his petulant final-year hazing of the American people by permitting the turning-over of control of the Internet to another assembly of boneheads, the United Nations ... see: Wall Street Journal Article.

He is also still obsessed in his backdoor attempt to permit more terrorism by releasing more Gitmo prisoners into places where many will surely rejoin their band of Muslim extremists ... killing more innocents ... see: Fox News Story.

He either is a total crazed ideologue ... or he really does hate us.

The Answers

What is the solution to increased Islamic terrorist attacks inside the United States?


- Not being willing to identify the motivation of the terrorists?

- A mad dash to allow more unvetted Muslims to immigrate into the U.S.?

- Increasing the number of gun-free zones? (The Pulse nightclub was one ...)

- Running vanity shots of the killers on the covers of Rolling Stone magazine?

- Continuing to slow-walk the defeat of ISIS?

- Disrespecting Israel?

- Disallowing undercover surveillance inside Mosques?

- Closing Gitmo and sending many internees back to the Mideast?

- Giving Iran, the chief sponsor of world terrorism, $150 billion?

- Closing down "see something, say something" FBI investigations because of PC concerns?

- Increased government funding of CAIR and other such organizations?

- Inviting the Muslim Brotherhood back to the White House?

- Electing Ms. Benghazi, Hellery Clinton, as our next president?


In other words, more of the same is going to fix things ...

Success!

When Obummer first took office, Rush Limbaugh issued that famous quote, "I hope he fails." Well, unfortunately, Rush was wrong ... and Obummer, over seven years, has experienced fairly wide-ranging successes with his objectives ... many, I am sure, we will hear about this Tuesday night.

He has pulled our troops out of Iraq. He has orchestrated a surge of troops in Afghanistan, "the good war." He has gotten his health care reform, Obamacare, passed and now implemented. He has opened our borders to many tens of thousands of "dreamers," or young illegal Mexican and Central American immigrants. He has also admitted tens of thousand of legal Muslim immigrants. Through the Muslim Brotherhood, he helped spawn the Arab Spring and all the changes it caused in the Middle East. He overthrew the Kadaffi government in Libya. ዕብያ።With the generous help of the Federal Reserve Bank , he has reduced the national unemployment rate to 5 %. He has drawn attention to possibly illegal police shootings throughout the country.  He has waged a relentless war on domestic "assault weapons." He has negotiated a nuclear limitation agreement with Iran. At the Paris Climate Conference he has focused world attention on global warming. He has gone a long way toward closing the Guantanamo Bay prison. He has championed a new free-trade pact with the Far East. He has gotten his most recent $1.1 trillion omnibus budget passed ... funding most of his residual objectives.

All this while enjoying himself immensely and playing hundreds of rounds of golf all around the United States.

Of course many of these successes have also had a dark side ... but we will leave them for another time.

The Oath

When our president twice took his oath of office, he swore to protect the American people from "all enemies, foreign and domestic." I can't believe that anyone truly believes that Obummer has fulfilled this pledge. Here are but a few of the instances where he has fallen down on his job one:

The Fast and Furious scheme inside his Justice Dept., his premature pullout from Iraq, his release of thousands of immigrant criminals, his unwillingness to identify the radicalized Muslim enemy, the series of terrorist attacks inside the U.S. on his watch, the release of hundreds of terrorists from Gitmo, his open borders policy, his tepid response to the ISIS threat, the Bowe Bergdahl prisoner exchange, his politically motivated "surge" in Afghanistan with no chance of success, his embracing of the Muslim Brotherhood, his sponsoring the Arab Spring and its dire consequences (Egypt, Libya, etc.), and his capitulation to Iran on their nuclear program/sponsorship of terrorism.

Enough? (There are lots more.) Obviously this man then had scant regard for this oath ... or the Book upon which he swore it.

Orange Jump Suits

ISIS apparently is using orange jump suits on its prospective corpses as a propaganda threat and a backdoor symbol to endorse President Obama's vow to close Gitmo ... not that the U.S. Guantanamo Bay prison has ever forced any orange-jump-suited Muslims to be 72-virgins martyrs. This [non]Islamic state of rabid radicals have apparently deciphered our pipsqueak president's delicate sensibilities ... and concluded that this subtle message will get through to him ... and cause their compadres to be released ... so that they might rejoin their jihad. And so far they have been right.

Ah, but there might be a solution to all our prexy's Neville Chamberlain madness! Can't we just dye the Gitmo jumpsuits some other color ... perhaps pink ... like Sheriff Joe Arpaio does in his Arizona prison? That might just send the right defiant message to these ISIS sissies. Then, if they followed suit (excuse the expression), they would be reduced to puerile silliness.

Heavy Metal

What do the bands Metallica, Rage Against The Machine, Queen, Eminem, David Gray. and Skinny Puppy have in common? Why their recordings all were used to “torture” prisoners at Gitmo … see: Brooklyn Vegan Blog. This last band mentioned has invoiced the U.S. government $666,000 (a devil of an amount) for using its “music” for this purpose without its permission. And it may sue the government if this requested amount isn’t remitted.

How quaint …

Rat?

A controversy roils around the trading of five notorious Taliban fighters who had been detained in the Guantanamo Bay prison (Gitmo) in exchange for a single United States soldier, Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. Most clearly President Obama’s administration had negotiated with terrorists to accomplish this swap … which is against centuries of United States’ precedent. Not so clear is the exact character of Sgt. Bergdahl. Was he captured or was he a deserter? He has denounced the United States and now speaks (supposedly) only Pashtu and his father has learned this language in sympathy with his son. This unilateral decision on Obama’s part rubs many the wrong way … including myself. President Obama has chosen a murky circumstance to make a clear political point … that he alone is the arbitrator of justice … and the happy benefactor is a possible traitor and rat. This clearly signals that Obama believes that he has nothing to lose in his remaining presidential term. Is he purposely trying to give the Senate to the Republicans this fall? Yes, with this decision, he is appealing to the radical left. But he has also cut the legs out of many more moderate Democrats. Is his ego all that encompassing that he is willing to become at one with Sgt. Bergdahl? Very strange and unnerving.

Afterward: The New York Times provides evidence that Sgt. Bergdahl was a deserter and caused the deaths of at least two other soldiers searching for him ... see: New York Times Article. There is also evidence that he may have actively collaborated with the Taliban after his capture ... teaching them bomb making and ambush techniques ... see: Breitbart Story. With all of this, why in God's name was this rodent promoted to sergeant while he was with the Taliban?

What I Admire about Obama

- His grace on a staircase
- He never closed Gitmo
- His modulation and tempo when reading from a Teleprompter
- His affection for his family
- He OKed the raid that killed Osama bin Laden
- His infectious smile

That's it.

Summer Camp

Why is it that we have to get our real news from the British press?  I guess that our national media is too concerned with more important things … like the Christie/Obama photo-op on the Jersey shore.  Anyhow, it seems that the hunger strike at our Guantanamo, Cuba prison camp for recalcitrant terrorists is getting worse … see: The Guardian Story.  And, of course, this has gotten the liberal nut-job protesters’ juices flowing.  There are now five prisoners in the hospital and 36 of them being force-fed.  My heart is bleeding a gush.

Unfortunately this article has a distinctly sympathetic bent … describing in detail the “humiliations” that these prisoners are experiencing … again, my heart is breaking.  My attitude toward Gitmo is that I can’t understand why all these prisoners have not been long ago tried in a military court … and a goodly portion of them made to smoke their last cigarette in front of a fusillade of rifles?  And why we would consider releasing any of these animals is beyond me.  The known recidivism rate among those who have already been freed is north of 30%.  I suspect that the real rate is a lot higher.

Perhaps I might have a solution for our pompous Prexy. Why don’t we just quietly depopulate all the guards from this posh summer camp … and then unleash multiple drone strikes on it?  How would this be any different from what we do in Yemen or Pakistan?
