Not-So-Obvious Truth

Don’t look now Pilgrim but there is a Battle Royale going on between competing truths … truths backed by science and those backed by pseudo-science …  truths that have legions of believers and financial backing. Trouble is … differentiating between them.

Each captures the headlines daily. They infect social media and blogs like this one. They are asserted by pundents on cable television and podcasts. They are diametrically opposed … yet both seeem convincing. But can they both be correct?

Fortunately, not.  Only one can prevail in each contest of ideas. And, if the truth does not out in the short term, things can be punishing. In the long run it always wins … or so they say. 

The truth is most often dressed in overalls and a ratty tee shirt … not a tuxedo. It speaks in whispers and not with a megaphone. Secreted in the 23rd paragraph of a news item. Hidden behind the dumpster of a posh restaurant. Sometimes even uttered by one with orange hair.

And the truth is not always pretty.

So Pilgrim, do your homework. It’s very important.
