White Nationalism (Updated)

I am a regular watcher of Smerconish on the CNN Saturday morning lineup. Because of the New Zealand mosque attacks, his survey question this AM was, ‘Does white nationalism pose a threat to liberal democracy?” The results were ... from 11,314 respondents 84% YES and 15% NO. This obviously is a self-selecting sample, so the results are biased. But the question itself does reveal something about the questioner ... namely: Are liberal democracies only run by whites?

Are there not liberal democracies run by those of other races? What about India? What about Chili? What about Ghana? What about Japan? What about Costa Rica? What about Israel.? What about South Africa? What about South Korea? What about Indonesia?

And do any of these countries have nationalistic tendencies?

Clearly nationalism of the non-white variety threaten the liberal democracies in some of these countries. And there is at least one white country which is not a liberal democracy ... namely Russia. So why would Smerconish limit his question to just white democracies?

Answer: “This is CNN!”

Afterthought: It is interesting that the New Zealand shooter most closely identifies not with Donald Trump ... but with Red China. Perhaps this is because how China puts Muslims in “re-education” camps ... and Trump doesn’t.

Just about all the Democrat candidates for president in 2020 have a common theme to their candidacy ... socialism to various degrees ... driven by an attempt to tap into a national jealousy ... through the use of a wealth tax ... or piggy-backing on a desire for social justice ... or playing the green-eyed monster. Whatever you call it, there is a lietmotif ... “billionaires are evil” (“except when they donate to my campaign.”)

It might be unfair that CEOs make more the 500 times their lowest paid employee. But, you know what, capitalist free markets do involve short-term dislocations ... and using some equally greedy bureaucrat to remedy fairness is a stupid solution. Are you listening Bernie? The invisible hand of capitalism does have a way of remedying things in the longer run, Right Jeff Inmelt? Politicians worship at the altar of lucre as much as, if not more than, the worst high-tech CEO ... and allowing pols to try to fix things is throwing more sand in the gears.

Social change through politics should be based on more noble emotions than jealousy and greed.

Musk Oxen

One unique characteristics of Musk oxen is how they protect their young from wolves. When under attack the adult Musk oxen form a protective circle around their calves  facing outward. Thus the wolves can’t enjoy Musk veal for dinner.

There is a perfect analogy between the current Democrat House of Representatives and this Musk-ox defense mechanism. Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer and the rest of the Democrat senior leadership have formed a protective circle around their rebellious freshman Reps ... Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanana Pressley and Rashida Tlaib ... and are making faux excuses for their socialistic or anti-Semitic diatribes.

Admittedly, the wolves in this case, our left-wing media, are not very ferocious ... but, nevertheless, these tyro firebrands are well protected.
