Colonialism

One good thing that colonialism did was to provide reason for third-world peoples to remain in their countries. Yes, they may have been exploited … but they benefitted from order and purpose. Now that the old colonialism has mostly crumbled, these oppressed peoples apparently want to follow their oppressors back to their home countries. Why?

The overriding sin of colonialism was that its practitioners did not install an ethos to carry on once they left … either voluntarily or involuntarily. Their petina of civilization was too thin.

Now China is stepping into the role of a neo-colonialist without a squeak of disapproval from most developed nations. Money makes the world go around. Sadly …
