Misery

Misery loves company — Old saw

As I have previously here indicated, kind readers, that because of my failing eyesight, I have lost the right to drive a car ... one of the real joys of modern life and so a fairly miserable situation. Ah, but now most others are also confined to their homes because of the coronavirus ... and can’t spend time tooling around in their cars too. This puts a whole lot of people in my category of being home bound. Sorry, but for some funny reason this gives me a private soupçon of solace.

Which brings to mind a comment made by a Psychology 101 professor of mine over 50 years ago, “Misery just doesn’t love company ... it loves miserable company.”

I guess I am now a case study of this old psych precept.
