For some reason George Soros has spent big money to get
recreational marijuana legalized in the United States … and he is
succeeding. (Is it because he
hates this country so much?) He has recently been
victorious in both Washington state and Colorado.
Now many other states, seeing the tax revenue that legalized
recreational pot can produce, are greedily moving toward mimicking the
relaxation of their own drug laws. First
they are ok-ing medical marijuana, then no penalty for small amounts of Mary Jane,
next legalizing recreational weed use, and finally imposing taxes on such
indulgences. I say “finally,” but I
strongly suspect there will be many further steps in this stairway
to national perdition.
I have, in the past, commented that this trend will not be
without its consequences … see: Yes We Cannibis. Nothing pleasurable really is. Although small, infrequent use of ganja may be
relatively harmless … I sincerely doubt that this will characterize the majority
of such future reefer users. Look what has
happened in our entertainment industry … all those glitterati could not have
gotten so stupid on their own.
When, many years from now, our society fully recognizes
the ultimate costs, George Soros will be long gone and the tax revenue produced by
this indulgence will be too great to forgo.
In the meantime there will be legions of apologists who chose to be
blind to our nation's downward spiral.
I am not one of them.
Afterward: I might have said that the nation is going to pot ...
Afterward: I might have said that the nation is going to pot ...
