“So much done for so little credit” — Fletcher

Over one year into Biden’s presidency, those who are sentient realize that our former president … shhh, the name that cannot be spoken … was quite right on a number of fronts. Yeah, I know he said many uncomfortable things … but the truth is often uncomfortable. That’s why the truth is often called a lie.

And yes I know, he also told a few actual lies … he was becoming a politician after all.

But, if one stops to remember, the mean orange man was remarkably correct —

- on our need for energy independence

- on Mexican border security

- on Chinese hegemony

- on Iran’s nuclear ambitions

- on Mideast peace (the Abraham Accords)

- on NATO members’ responsibilities

- on returning manufacturing to the U.S.

- on his assessment of Biden

- on his administration being spied upon

- on EU’s dependence on Russia oil and gas

- on the the breakdown of our law and order

- on the importance of outer space (the Space Force)

- on the mania surrounding global warming

- on his handling of the COVID pandemic

- on our fake news media

- on keeping Russia and North Korea in a box

All this is not chopped liver. And yet he is still vilified … many choosing to forget what he did for us … yet Biden is propped up amid his many failures.

Funny how that works?

A Possible Solution?

 

These Ukraine hostilities need an innovative solution. And so, how about the following?

Congress has just allocated $350 million for Ukraine aid … which suggests to me that we could convert this money to $100 bills and, flying over this country at high altitude on a windy day,  spread this blanket of money over the entire country.

The result should be that, at least the Ruskies, would spend the next weeks scavenging for these bills … and forget about killing anyone.

Might work?

Decision Point

 

We are rapidly closing in on a decision point for Russia … whether to go balls out in Ukraine … or to continue its pussyfooting around in its attempt to cow this country. Obviously Putin thought that his overwhelming military force would steamroll Volodymyr Zelensky and his army. So far this hasn’t happened — the country’s electric power is mostly on … it’s command and control is still operational … the resupply of the Ukrainian army continues … much country transport still is running … and Zelensky can still rally his people.

But Russia should be able to correct these problems overnight with overwhelming destructive kinetics. I expect Putin thought that this country would fold and sue for peace. And the United States even offered to extract Zelensky from his hiding place to a neutral country. To his great credit Volodymyr said, “No thanks Brandon.”

So the calculus for Putin is should he … continue this slog and keep losing green troops and the world’s  deference … or lower the hammer at great cost to this country’s infrastructure and population … or pack up his bags and leave in humiliation.

I suspect that Putin will choose the hammer option. The other two choices are anathema to China and Vladimir’s misguided crusade.

If you are religious, pray for the Ukrainians. If not, pray anyway.

What Vladimir Putin has accomplished so far just with his threat to invade Ukraine:

- Pushed the price of oil above $90 per barrel …injecting  billion$ more into his economy

- Made it very clear to the EU that Ukraine cannot join NATO

- Has tightened his control on Belarus with his tens of thousand Russian troops there

-Has demonstrated how feckless Biden is with his mostly empty threats and unnecessary concessions

- Has pushed a wedge between Germany and the rest of NATO

- Has started a Ukraine refugee crisis in Eastern Europe

- Shown the danger that Europe faces by relying only on the natural gas pipelines through Ukraine … and thus showing the need for Nordstream Two

- Has sorely tempted Biden to get embroiled in the conflict to offset his domestic problems

- Increases Russian  influence in eastern Ukraine

- Damages Ukraine’s economy and thus Zelensky’s popularity

- Flushes out much of America’s intelligence sources and methods

And the downside? Nothing, if he doesn’t invade. Maybe this is why sanctions should have been imposed on Russia already?

Another irony of ironies: Our supposed Nazi President Trump was far more stand-of-ish when dealing with the BLM and Antifa insurrections … throughout the summer of 2020 … than is being exhibited now in opposing the current Freedom Convoy by Canadian truckers. Canada’s equity proponent, PM Justin Trudeau is another frustrating repeat of the hypocrisy that Liberals use to accuse Conservatives of doing that which they, themselves, are ironically conducting.

DNA databases and their analyses are the future. Already such treasure troves are being used to predict a person’s susceptibility to breast and prostate cancer, whom one is related to, whether a suspect has committed a crime and all kinds of less consequential personal characteristics like flat feet and hair loss.

This trend derives from the fact that, except for the case of identical twins, one’s DNA is even more unique than the topology of one’s face or fingerprints … primarily because it contains many more unique datapoints.

There is no doubt in my mind, kind reader, that the future will bring mankind the ability of science to create designer babies once our DNA can be reliability manipulated … and that there will be many disasters along the way as this same science misreads the complex coding embedded in and between DNA sequences.

Of course, like all of science, this is a two-edged sword. China is already collecting DNA data in a greedy frenzy … possibly for designing future pandemics that target specific populations? Is that scary enough? And just imagine if Hitler had had this technology along with mandatory abortions in order for him to design his super race?

The upsides and downsides are endless.
