Kevin McCarthy was ousted as Speaker of the House last week when eight conservatives failed to back him … see: Three Strikes. Matt Gaetz pulled the Motion to Vacate lever to oust the Speaker. Then a motion to table that motion failed by those same Republican firebrands without … and this is key … without any Democrat votes that McCarthy could have bought with side deals that would have weakened the conservative agenda.
Pilgrim, I realize that this is complicated back-and-forth … but bottom line, McCarthy fell on his sword rather than sell out those who (rightfully) sold him out … and strengthen the Democrats. For this, he has risen in my estimation.
STAND UP FOR SACRIFICE!
