Lately we are hearing that Russia has been propagandizing the global warming hysteria for decades. Sure would make strategic sense. What would happen if the United States abandoned its Green Agenda and the world didn’t end?

ReplyDeleteYou and Igor seem to miss the point about the atmospheric heating effects of too much C02. Most greenies would actually affirm their belief in photosynthesis-- a different process indeed. So your commentary comes off as pure playground trash talk.
Follow me … if Russia causes the world to give up drilling for fossil fuels, then this becomes a scarce commodity of which Russia has plenty. But the transition to all EVs (planes, semitrailer trucks, bulldozers, etc.) will never happen. This means a strong market with high prices for its product.

There are seven countries with greater oil reserves than Russia. They'll increase their output. (US is #11). The world can live without Russia in every way.
ReplyDeleteThen how come we won’t stop importing Russian oil? And I think New England’s liquified natural gas comes mostly from Russia? Also one has to factor in transportation costs. Russia has oil and natural gas pipelines right into Europe. It’s a quite a boat trip from Venezuela, Mexico and Nigeria.

You argue that Greenies want to eliminate co2 entirely. This is asinine. Look up "photosynthesis" for more erudition. Do you deny that co2 is a greenhouse gas?

ReplyDeleteThe EPA has labeled CO2 an “air pollutant” … and, yes, I think many bubble heads would like to eliminate it entirely. I see nothing wrong with feeding our flora … they feed us. The only issue will be when we find an alternative energy source that doesn’t replenish our CO2 levels.

ReplyDeletethere is a huge difference between proven and unproven reserves. Worldwide “proven”reserves have stayed steady for decades despite all the annual extractions. We have enough hydrocarbons to last until we find that magic energy replacement.

ReplyDeleteCO2 is an air pollutant when pumped into the atmosphere as exhaust. There was plenty of CO2 in the atmosphere to support vegetation before men started drilling. So you need not worry about "replenishing" CO2 levels.
ReplyDeleteTo equate CO2 to a car’s exhaust is naive at best. CO2 is odorless and colorless. Yes, a cars exhaust contains CO2 … but it also contains CO, SO2, water vapor and soot (unburned carbon). You, like too many Americans must learn to differentiate between the good and the bad. CO2 is benign and has been at least 10 times higher (now it’s 0.04%) in our atmosphere yet we are still here. Mar’s atmosphere is 95% CO2 (good place to grow plants.) There are probably 20 things that cause our Earth to warm and to cool … of which CO2 is somehow the only that counts. This is myopic and foolish. I keep saying these things but some readers of this blog chose to not hear … or care. They are slaves to this mindless meme and are being manipulated … like St. Greta … for political advantage. Their BS meters must be broken.
ReplyDeleteI forgot one thing. The only reason there was even plant’s starvation levels of CO2 in our atmosphere was because man has been burning coal, peat and wood for millennia to stay warm. (And volcano outgassing.)
