Trading Sardines

An old Wall Street chestnut — A food buyer was offered a truckload of canned sardines at 31 cents a can. He jumped at the opportunity and quickly resold them for 64 cents a can … making a huge profit. Three days later this same merchandise was offered to him at 73 cents a can. He bought in and again sold them for more profit … at 81 cents a can.

Shortly thereafter the person to whom he had sold them confronted him and said he had opened a can of these sardines and they tasted awful. To which the seller said, “But Joe, those are not eating sardines … they are trading sardines!”
