Obvious Truth

Given incomplete information, people tend to prefer the benign explanation for a malign event (presidential election mischief)… and will then hold onto this opinion well past contradictory evidence.

And, curiously, the exact opposite is also true … a malign explanation for a benign event (January 6th Capitol invasion) is often preferred even in the light of negating information.

Why the strange disconnect? Does this have something to do with what motivates these opinions … is there self-interest involved … particularly by the primary proponents?

STAND UP FOR QUESTIONING?

  1. Are you nuts? There is no evidence of anything more than trace mischief in ballot handling and counting. Where is the mischief?
There are a lot of self-corroborating videos of people with revolutionary flags pushing down barriers, assaulting officers, scaling walls, breaking windows, stealing computers from offices, and verbally seeking the VP of the USA to hang him. How is that benign? What is the "negating information"?

  2. Yeah … but was it 9/11 or other over-top depictions? The Capitol police essentially let them in. A flag is not a gun. It was the most benign “insurrection” in history.
And insofar as the election was concerned … I’m patiently awaiting the whole story … Bill Barr be damned. it may take months … maybe years more. I can wait.

  3. And about 10% of the “invaders” were FBI operatives.

  4. Damn nearly everything domestically is less than 9/11. At that, 9/11 did not expect that they were taking out high-level government officials who were known to be in session. Did you see the complete 1/6 video? The Capitol police were expecting some signs, shouting, and peaceful gathering. The crowd climbed the walls, pushed down the barriers, backed the police up the stairs with a surge of protestors, and then broke windows to gain entrance. Who does that? THEN the police stopped resisting because they could not possibly rein things in.

As to how many invaders were military vets, FBI, or off-duty cops, it does not matter. By any measure, it was sh!t show. I say "Lock them up!" All of them. And even hang a few of them, and then leave them swinging in the wind in front of the Capitol until 2024.

  5. There were something like 300 invaders … most of whom are n solitary. How many Antifa And BLM arsonists, looters, rioters are treated the same? Most who had been arrested in NYC, Minneapolis, DC, Portland, Seattle, etc. are back on the streets with no penalties. As to the comparison to 9/11, see “ https://www.wsj.com/articles/its-a-travesty-to-compare-the-capitol-siege-to-9-11-11622153451”

  6. Asking for a 9-11 type investigation struck me as not so much the magnitude of the offense but finding the underlying forces: Was there a single leader? Are more attacks planned? Are the military and police that were invaders just drawn in or were they traitors to their oaths? What if they had grabbed Pence? Would they really have hung him? Then what did they think would happen? Would all the states toss their votes to Trump! We the people want to know…

  7. BTW, there are tens of thousands of hours of video of the Capitol invasion that has not been released … not even to those defendants rotting in jail. Is some of it exculpatory? This is not the way democracy’works.
