Recently on a Zoom call with classmates the subject was posed: what were our formative book(s)? I professed the King James version of the Bible ... which, in my teens, I read most of the new testament and the early books in the old one.
However, of late, it struck me that I had forgotten one ... “The Little House.” This was a book I read over and over as a tot ... a simple book with a simple message — life can go against you ... but if you persevere, things will turn out OK.
A powerful message for a developing mind.
