Trump is the consomme flatterer and insulter. He is very good with the slurs for those who he thinks are working against him and knows how to butter up those from who he wishes something. And since most of those he wishes something from are adversaries, he is often criticized for playing nice-nice with tyrants like Kim, Erdogan, Xi and, of course, Putin. "He's a very strong leader." 'We get along fabulously." "His people love him."
Trump can lay this flattery on pretty thick ... obviously Trump's form of interpersonal diplomacy ... and, in either case, the more our media decry it, the more effective it becomes.
I see. So don't butter up your allies. Call them weak and sad. Butter up your enemies. Call them strong. And what exactly have we gotten from these revered tyrants?
ReplyDeleteThree hostages released for free vs. $1.8 billion in cash flown in a night on unmarked planes. Think ... and you can find another ten examples.
DeleteThe Donald likes being buttered up by all his loyal minions. A lot of butter around...
ReplyDeleteButter everywhere except in the MSM (and Mueller).
DeleteHave Kim, Erdogan, Xi and, of course, Putin expressed how Trump is a great leader or that his peope love him? They seem more pleased that Trump is ceding US leadership in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and (amazingly) even North America.
ReplyDeleteYout conclusion is upside down. It was Obama who was driving from the back seat. Trump is leading ... and that is why you and much of America are confused.
DeleteOh okay. Leadership by trashing all established international pacts and agreements, and saying that we are winning. I am a fan of America-first but Trump's style leaves me wondering.
DeleteWhat did the first minute of Trump<>Kim tell Trump? What was signed seemed like an agreement to agree in the future, basically a sketch of what could be.
Now we have discarded the formal signed Iran agreement, the Trans-Pacific trade pact, and global climate change accords. The UN, NAFTA, and tariffs are next.
Just dissolve the military so those soldiers can come build American infrastructure with that great wealth we keep flowing into the dozens of countries where we have bases and the several fleets at sea.
You evaded my question (A Trump tactic):
ReplyDeleteHave Kim, Erdogan, Xi and, of course, Putin expressed how Trump is a great leader or that his people love him?
While Xi and Putin are carving out their territories, Trump seems to be retreating to the US homeland. Looked at as the game of Risk, whole continents are aligning with the powerhouses of Asia (Xi) and Europe (Putin). Trump doesn't seem to much want the Americas, even Mexico and Canada.
ReplyDeleteSo there he is off on the ramparts with a flag, leading the charge, and no one to follow his "lead." Sad...
