Too many drones will take down a beehive ...

  1. Facts of hive life:
Drones are reserved only for mating with the queen. However, the queen only mates a few times in the first few months of her four year life, and the lifespan of a drone is about three months. So several generations of drones are useless consumers of honey just hoping for that 5 seconds of blissful copulation, after which they die. If that is not solemn enough, the workers push the drones out of the hive as the weather gets colder so that they starve and freeze. Drones never ever control the hive or even their very existence. But you have to have some healthy drones ready when the new queen takes off for her maiden flight.

No intentional political spin, just bee life.

  2. Very interesting ... you must have tended bees? Can we call drone bees "dreamers?"

  3. I did have bees. I even went to bee school. Some dreamers are definitely worker bees while others join their domestic peers as not welfare queens but welfare drones. Kick'em out.

    1. I think current law requires even legal immigrants to be deported if they go on the dole within five years of coming here.
