Pointy Heads

Zippy

As we often do, my wife and I were observing the loopy state of the world this morning and we stumbled upon anther paradox which needs to be dissected. There are two major motivators in society -- logic and emotion. The left tends to behave more out of emotion and the right, leaning on logic. Now our university elites, one would assume, are, or should be, grounded in logical thought growing out of their study of the great thinkers of history. Therefore, again one would assume, these  pedagogues would resist the soppy reasoning associated with progressive activism (while privilege, safe spaces, virtue signaling, etc.).

But no! The right-reasoning process seems mostly dead on our college campuses ... and emotion rules our ivory towers. Cold, hard logic is too often eschewed and is replaced by slogans and mindless chants. Why this has occurred is beyond the understanding of this observer ... and, apparently, also is not up for discussion in the classrooms of many of our pointy-headed professors.

Afterthought:Perhaps our prejudice against the state of higher education comes from the growth of hyphenized "studies"courses relative to the classics. This lopsided expansion of "soft" vs. tradotional studies is, in our opinion, rotting out o our educational foundation ... which should concern everyone.

Funny, this morning I was having breakfast with a rocket scientist and he thinks Conservatives actually indulge in logical fallacies, name-calling, lies and mockery to support their belief that Liberals are ruining it for straight white people who like to shoot big guns. Running up the deficit to give more riches to the rich, trashing regulations that are intended to protect people against greedy corporations, are just two examples of the disturbed Conservative mindset. It's crazy, because 99% of Conservatives will not benefit from either position.

I think that the liberalism of the faculty is not so much a factor as the huge increase in the number of college students 1965=6M, 2017=20M. That fact coupled with the astonishingly more sophisticated conmunication and collaboration by students, gives these kids huge group power. They are just more in-your-face.

Consider also that only 30% of US citizens over 25 have college degrees. So where are the conservatives getting their point-of-view? While college professors are liberal, they are also trained academics. Contrast that with the learning experiences garnered from conservative news talk radio and TV. Or do they chat politics with their peers on the shop floor, worksite, or office?

Please name three regulations which were trashed that were protecting people from greedy corporations ... or are you just making up your own fake news?

1) relaxing restrictions on coal dust in drinking water 2) removing restrictions on persons with mental illness buying guns and big ammo clips. 3) dismantling consumer protections against predatory lending.
Trump thinks he is running a reality show, and wants to staff the cabinet with apprentices that he can fire at will. Tillerson was right.

Good, now as an exercise in fairness, can you provide the rationales for their removal? Or are you just echoing a Daily Kos hit piece?

Since when do you care about "fairness"? Your screeds are more lopsided than a two legged mule with bell's palsy.

Since you sidestepped, let me surmise:
1) Obama's EPA put impossible limits on coal dust in drinking water to put the coal industry out of business (as he swore to do).
2) ACLU objected to this restriction as it was not really against mental illness ... just a proxy for fewer gun sales.
3) More mortgages for people who can't afford houses? Another 2008 meltdown?

1) Why not?
2) Why not?
3) Ah yes, bad mortgage lending and that purported meltdown were illusions. Why protect consumers? They are shills to be played and monetized. The stockholders need the vig.
