"Going to war" is the hallmark of authoritarian regimes -- whether theocratic or nationlistic -- to build loyalty to the destruction of enemies declared by the singular leader, one that has aspirations to global hegemony. War is NOT peace.
There are always wars taking place all over the globe for all kinds of reasons. Anon.'s contention is that war itself is the reason.
Sure. Let's conscribe a lot of young zalots to fight, get maimed, and die for a reason that is fuzzy, a goal that is unclear, and the collateral damage to unaligned citizens and their homes. There's debate, there's polarization, there's posturing, there's shooting across the bow, there's regime change in a soveriegn nation, and there's genocide. The first four are not war. Civilzed people support the basic right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for everyone.
Your argument suggests that deadly viruses that are constantly killing people all over the globe are beneficial.
For all our reverence for life, we keep killing each other in battle. In a twisted way this has been good for society in general because 1) it has kept the population growth down, 2) it has eliminated the weaker males, and 3) many new scientific developments have come about during wars.
The weaker males never went to war, they had bone spurs and could not even walk for the discomfort. War actually wastes the best citizens - ones who believe in something beyond personal gain.
The main reason I created man ws to watch him fight.
Good that you introduce your points as “twisted.” 1) Disease does more to reduce population growth than war, 2) these wars are not Mano a Mano with swords so ‘weaker’ males can wield awesome killing power, and 3) the advances in prosthetics are huge, and the other scientific developments in the past 50 years of war are... um... Napalm? Drones? The mother of all bombs?
You are right about disease, but imagine what the population of the Earth would be without war from the behind ing. Wars brought us also gunpowder, metal ships, atomic energy and airplane advances .... among many others.
That word is "beginning"
You're thinking modern wars. Back then, everyone fought ... including Richard III.
Not "man" ... "people" -- Trudeau
No ... viruses are not created by man ... wars are and theoritically could be avoided, but aren't. So man must want them.
By the above "good" does not mean "moral". War is so embedded inhuman's DNA that peaceniks might just be picketing against food.
WTF? War is not in our DNA. Aggressiveness, yes. Violence, perhaps. But humans have reason and morality to provide controls and tempering of those base values. War requires a single human to override the individual’s sense of what is the social good and make them attain the goals of the leader. War is a group function. Yet when you observe animals generally the alpha males fight to the death to preserve mating rights and peace in the group under the clearly alpha leader. That leader does not compel the younger and weaker males to attack other groups so that he can mate with their females and control their territory.
“peaceniks might just be picketing against food”? I can’t parse that... what are you trying to say?
War will never go away so peacenicks picketing is a futile endeavor. They might just as well try to banish food.
About war being in our DNA. Wars are always taking place around the world. And, according to Fosse, even chimps had wars. One could even say we are at war now with Mexico (or better, they with us).
Your point seems to be that there are no revenue streams when you are on a peace footing.
"one"? Who is "one"? We are not at war with Mexico.
La Raza ...
InfoWars got you going down that path. La Raza is a street gang. Them declaring war on the USA is like women declaring war against men.
